Mewβs hand turned the knob. It wasn't locked. It never was.
She pushed it open, and the familiar sight of her friendβs home greeted her. She stepped in and toed off her shoes in the entryway next to all the others.
Hello? She called out, tossing her keys into the ceramic bowl on the console table.
From somewhere in the back of the house, a muffled voice called,
Weβre in here! Don't trip over the shoes!
Mew smiled, already navigating the familiar obstacle course of stray sneakers and half unpacked tote bags.
