Starting down the neon washed street towards the comfort of his watering hole Pierce gazed at the horizon, his eyes fixed on the Mecca of thievery that was the Cartel’s Villa, Hoxne Forteresse. An impenetrable stronghold housing the wealth plundered from Dolus-Malus over the years
“One day. One day you’ll be mine.”
Pierce quickened pace down the street which teemed with all manner of degeneracy and outlaws. Thugs peddling drugs for every high, alleyway grifters looking for a quick score and deracinated “individuals” created a malaise that hung in the air like a blanket of hopelessness. Approaching a slightly dilapidated building adorned with screens advertising the newest unit of happiness for sale at the local temple to consumerism, Pierce glanced up at a neon sign flashing the bar’s name into the consciousness of the public; O’Malley’s. He opened the door and shook off the cold and rain drops trying to soak his duster
“Give me a beer.” Pierce shouted over the murmurs of the patrons as he approached the bar.
“Back so soon?” Asked the bartender.
“Piece of cake.” Pierce said coyly.
