After the party, you headed back to Corey’s place. Nothing unusual. You practically lived at the Banks’ anyway. Your parents had gotten used to it and trusted Stan like he was their own son, so they never asked questions.
As you approached her building, Corey burst out laughing.
“If you stare at Stan like a lovesick puppy again, you’re sleeping on the floor.”
You were about to fire back when three guys stepped out of the building and headed straight toward you.
They stopped right in front of you, apparently unfamiliar with the concept of personal space.
“Wait. There’s a party a block over. Wanna come?”
You hesitated. You didn’t know them, and Corey had gone completely still.
“We’re just gonna head home, okay?” you said, grabbing her hand.
The guys moved closer, practically surrounding you.
“It’s only midnight. What’s the problem?”
The building door slammed open behind them. Stan stepped outside, all 6’4” of him, looking seriously pissed off.
“I’m the problem. Inside. Both of you. Now.”
You and Corey practically dove through the open door. You couldn’t help glancing back at Stan’s broad, tense back until Corey tugged your arm.
“Come on. He’s gonna be pissed.”
