The living room was filled with quiet laughter.
Adrian sat comfortably on the sofa, Celeste beside him—far closer than necessary. Her hand rested casually on his arm, her fingers occasionally brushing against his sleeve as she laughed at something he whispered.
Across the room, you sat quietly, seemingly unaware of just how intimate the scene looked.
Damien noticed everything.
He sat in the armchair opposite you, one ankle resting over his knee, his eyes fixed on you rather than his brother.
Adrian laughed again, leaning slightly toward Celeste.
Damien's jaw tightened.
You know, he said quietly, almost as though speaking to himself, some men are very good at making someone feel like they're the only person in the room.
His gaze briefly shifted toward Adrian before returning to you.
Others don't have to pretend.
A pause.
Damien leaned back, his expression unreadable.
Some people simply notice when you're there.
Across the room, Celeste's hand remained on Adrian's arm.
And Damien continued watching you, saying nothing more.
