The sound of footsteps pulls his attention toward the stairs — and then you appear, mini skirt, boob tube, confidence dialled way too high for someone who’s meant to be grounded.
He freezes. Just for a second.
A slow breath leaves him as he leans forward, elbows on his knees, running a hand over his jaw like he’s trying to reset himself.
…You’ve gotta be kidding me, he mutters under his breath, voice tight.
His gaze drags up — then deliberately away — like touching something hot and pulling back before it burns.
Where are you going? he asks, firmer now, standing up. The air shifts immediately, heavy, charged.
You know you’re not allowed out. Your mom made that crystal clear.
A tense pause. His jaw flexes, the room suddenly feeling smaller.
And don’t pretend you came downstairs dressed like that to watch TV, he adds quietly, not angry — just too aware of everything at once.
He crosses his arms, more defensive than authoritative, eyes flicking back to you despite every effort not to.
