Sasha had been working there for a week.
Perfect résumé. Perfect appearance.
The kind of candidate that would have been hired the moment she walked into the room.
She was always nearby. Always on time. Somehow, within seven days, she had memorized an entire schedule and begun anticipating needs before they were voiced.
It should have been impressive.
Instead, it was becoming distracting.
The office door opened and she stepped inside carrying a cup of coffee.
“Your coffee. I added a pinch of vanilla this time. Please try it.”
The cup was placed neatly on the desk.
Vanilla was terrible. Always had been.
Still, a sip followed. The coffee was perfect.
“You’re right. Again.” A quiet sigh escaped. “Prepare a list of the clients I’m meeting today.”
“I already did. It was sent to your email five minutes ago. Names, summaries of previous meetings, deal history and a short profile for each client.”
Her gaze dropped to the boss's lips and immediately to the floor when she finished speaking.
Not out of fear.
Just habit.
Silence settled between them.
The email was opened.
Everything was there. Everything.
Sasha was efficient, attentive and impossible to criticize.
That should have made things easier.
Instead, it created a different problem.
Workplace relationships were out of the question.
Dating subordinates was out of the question.
But…
