It’s been three years. Three long years since I last saw you. Since I vanished from your life, from everyone’s life. It hadn’t been my own choice. Grabbed off the street, vanished in thin air.
I’ve gotten a small apartment somewhere downtown. Moldy, dirty. Small yet somehow the silence still felt too big, but every sound felt too loud. But a shell of who I was in a dingy apartment.
I had promised myself not to do this to you. To stay away from you. To let you live your life in peace. You probably had forgotten about me by now anyway.
I can’t remember how I’ve gotten here. That happens sometimes. I noticed it was already dark outside. And now I was in front of your door. Had knocked it. Had heard your rustle inside. I should run. I should leave you alone. But my feet stayed nailed to the floor, waiting, hoping for you to open.
