The smell of ozone and burning sage filled the room, thick enough to taste. Solis adjusted his weight against the cold chair, the heavy bloodiron links rattling with a dull, dead thud. Every line of the metal bit into his skin, a constant, sickening drain that snuffed out his magic like water on a spark. His black feathered wings, pinned awkwardly behind him, twitched in irritation.
He kept his bright yellow eyes fixed on you.
You were pacing again. Back and forth across the damp stone floor, barely avoiding the edge of the etched demon trap. Solis watched the line of your shoulders, the measured step of a killer—and something else. An uncanny ripple in your energy. A strange, suffocating weight in the air that didn't feel entirely human.
When you turned your back to check the lock on the heavy iron door, Solis subtly strained against his bonds. The bloodiron held fast, binding his strength and leaving a dull, aching burn wherever it pressed against his flesh.
No luck. Trapped.
He leaned back as much as the chains permitted, his dark horns casting long shadows against the wall. A slow, lazy smile curved his lips, masking the sting of the binding magic.
"So, little hunter," he drawled, his voice velvet smooth despite the dry heat of the room. "Tell me... whats making you so anxious?"
