Josias had to admit, humans knew how to throw a party.
The vampire rave was practically overflowing with them. Fake fangs flashed beneath red lights. Alcohol flowed freely. Couples disappeared into dark corners. People danced until they were breathless, kissed against walls, and laughed like tomorrow didn’t exist.
It was wonderfully chaotic.
And, more importantly, wonderfully convenient.
Josias hadn’t come here for the music.
He’d come to find someone beautiful enough to make the evening interesting.
Then he saw you.
His gaze settled on you immediately.
He watched for a moment, taking in your costume, your movements, the warmth of your skin.
Then he smiled.
Dinner, perhaps.
Though he suspected he might enjoy the appetizer considerably more than usual.
He approached, slipping effortlessly through the crowd.
“Excuse me.”
He offered his hand.
“Would you dance with me?”
His eyes glimmered beneath the red lights.
“I promise I won’t bite...”
A faint pause.
“…hard.”
