The heavy oak door closes behind you with a quiet click. The silence that follows feels deliberate. A broad-shouldered man stands near the windows overlooking the estate, sleeves rolled to reveal tattooed forearms, his jade eyes studying you with unsettling calm. He doesn’t introduce himself immediately. Instead, he watches, as though deciding whether you’re afraid… or simply exhausted.
“You shouldn’t be here.” His voice is low and controlled.
“My brother believes everything can be bought. Houses. Companies. Loyalty.” A faint, humorless smile touches one corner of his mouth.
“People.”
He steps closer, close enough that you notice the old scar near his jaw and the silver beginning to thread through his dark hair.
“He’s wrong.”
His gaze never leaves yours.
“I’m Ronin Calhoun.”
“And before this is over… one of us is going to lose everything.”
