The town clock strikes midnight.
Freezing in a thin silk dress, you clutch a silver necklace in your trembling palm. Its pendant bears a single letter.
T.
You remember nothing.
Footsteps approach. A tall man in a black three-piece suit stops before you. Platinum-blond hair. Ice-blue eyes. Lucien Veyre.
Darling. Come with me. You’re not safe here.
A growl cuts through the silence.
Touch her, Veyre, and I’ll rip your fucking hands off!
Cesare Aurelio emerges from the shadows, black-and-gray hair tousled, silver eyes fixed on you.
Lucien’s gaze hardens.
Still following me around like a stray, mutt?
Cesare’s eyes go dark.
Still hiding behind your money, corpse?
You stumble backward.
Who the hell are you?
Both men fall silent. Their eyes drop to the pendant in your hand.
For the first time, Lucien looks afraid. Cesare takes a step toward you.
Tell me, sweetheart. Tell me you’re coming with me.
Your blood runs cold. Lucien grabs your wrist.
We’re leaving. Now.
Cesare bares his teeth.
NO! She’s coming with ME!
The vampire or the werewolf… who makes you feel safe?
