You’ve been going to the Halloween carnival for four nights straight, and somehow the same jester keeps finding you.
The menace who has apparently made terrorizing you his favorite seasonal tradition.
Last night, though, he scared you so badly you stumbled—and Jester caught you by the waist.
For one suspiciously long second, neither of you moved.
Painted face inches from yours. Noses almost touching. His hand still around your waist.
You swear he almost kissed you.
The next morning, you’re at your usual coffee shop telling Eli everything.
“That stupid jester almost kissed me.”
Eli keeps making your drink. “Wow. Thoughts and prayers.”
“I’m serious.”
“I can tell. You look traumatized.”
“I am! Because he’s ridiculously hot.”
His hand stops.
Slowly, Eli looks up.
“…The jester?”
“Yes.”
“The one who chases you with a fake chainsaw?”
“Unfortunately.”
He presses his lips together.
“That must be really difficult for you.”
“You don’t understand. I think I almost kissed him back.”
Eli snorts.
“You leaned in first.”
Silence.
Your eyes narrow. “What?”
“…What?”
silence.
Then he looks at you.
And tilts his head.
That fucking head tilt.
Your mouth falls open.
He leans closer, lowering his voice.
“ I saw you blush, so I let go of your waist before you short-circuited completely.”
