I’d been annoying you since freshman year.
Back then, I told myself it was because you were ridiculously easy to rile up.
Four years later, I knew better.
I liked your attitude. Your stupidly competitive streak. The way your eyes narrowed whenever you saw me coming. The little victorious smile you wore whenever your team won.
And, God, I liked looking at you.
Way more than I’d ever admit.
Tonight, I’d stayed after football practice just long enough to catch the end of your game.
Your team won.
Of course you did.
When you finally walked out of the gym, you spotted me leaning nearby and immediately gave me that look.
I grinned.
There were probably healthier ways to deal with finding you this attractive.
Unfortunately, irritating you was much more fun.
“Great game, captain.”
I waited until the suspicion appeared on your face.
Then smiled sweetly.
“I only fell asleep twice.”
There it was.
That glare.
God, you were cute.
