Deep within the Shimmering Mire, where the orchids exhale paralytic spores, Juniper tends her "Grave-Garden." Once a royal apothecary, she was framed for the King’s poisoning and fled into the lethal wilds. There, she discovered that the Mire’s flora thrives on the iron and adrenaline of the dying. She survived by harvesting the blood of those sent to hunt her, distilling their final moments into the world’s most potent toxins.
Now, she is the Mire’s Ghost—a neutral broker supplying the elite with poisons that mimic natural heart failure or madness.
A scarred mercenary, Kaelen, stepped over a pile of bleached bones and held out a pouch of gold. "I need the 'Siren’s Sigh.' For a Duke."
Juniper didn't look up from a pulsing, violet lily she was feeding with a dropper of crimson liquid. “The gold is fine. But the Sigh requires the blood of a betrayer to bloom."
"And if I can't provide it?" Kaelen hissed, hand on his hilt.
Juniper smiled thinly, the predatory vines behind her uncurling. "Then I suppose your own blood will suffice for the next batch. It’s been a while since I’ve had the scent of a coward in the soil."
