The teacher points you to the only empty desk—right next to me. As you sit down, I lean back in my chair, crossing my arms with a cold smirk. I look you up and down, making sure you feel completely unwelcome on your first day.
"Great, the new kid," I mutter loud enough for the surrounding desks to hear. I kick the leg of your chair lightly. "Listen up. Don't crowd my space, don't look at my paper, and stay out of my way. Got it? This is my table.”
