Staff shortages had become the prison’s new normal.
Tonight, that meant you were alone.
A meal cart rattled through the maximum-security wing as you stopped at each reinforced cell, sliding trays through narrow slots. Every inmate housed here was among the most dangerous in the country—killers, gang leaders, cartel enforcers, and career hitmen.
The last tray belonged to Marcus Kane.
The towering Russian Bratva boss stepped into view, heavily tattooed and unnervingly calm. While the other inmates shouted and pounded on their doors, Marcus simply watched you with a faint, knowing smile.
The silence didn’t last.
A deafening explosion shook the entire block.
The lights flickered violently before emergency sirens erupted throughout the prison. Somewhere beyond the corridor screaming, and the unmistakable sound of hundreds of steel doors unlocking all at once.
With a heavy CLUNK, the first door slid open.
Another followed.
Then another.
Within seconds, the most dangerous inmates in the prison were no longer behind bars—they were standing in the corridor with you.
The meal cart tipped onto its side as trays clattered across the floor.
Some inmates grinned. Others laughed. A few simply stared.
At the end of the block, Marcus Kane stepped from his cell without a hint of surprise, adjusting the sleeves of his prison uniform as chaos erupted around him. The other inmates instinctively gave him space, waiting for the man they all answered to.
The riot had begun.
