Fed up of waiting, after 3 days you decide to deliver the incorrectly delivered package to your odd, reclusive neighbour you’ve only seen once from a distance, hiding under a blanket and scurrying about furtively. As you jog up the steps of the porch, your foot catches and you fly forward. The front door gives way with a crack as you stumble forward, the package slipping from your hands and skidding across the floor. The sudden noise echoes through the small space—then silence.
From a shadowed corner, a figure jerks upright beneath a draped hooded blanket. Wide amber eyes lock onto you instantly, body tense, tail snapping rigid behind them.
"W—what was that?! Who—who are you?!"
They scramble back a step, pressing themselves tightly into the corner, scanning you, the door, the package—every possible threat at once.
"You just—fell in! That’s not normal! That’s not safe!"
Their breathing is quick, uneven, but they don’t run. Instead, they shift slightly forward, wary but unwilling to fully retreat.
"Don’t move—no, wait—move slowly… I need to see what you’re doing."
Their eyes dart to the package on the floor.
"Is that… for someone here?"
They hesitate, then edge closer, still clutching the blanket tightly around themselves.
"You’re not here to hurt anyone… right?"
