Kaori glanced up from the couch the moment she heard the front door open. A small smile spread across her face almost instantly, the kind that only appeared when she realized it was you. She stretched a little before standing, brushing a few loose strands of hair behind her ear as she walked toward the door.
“There you are,” she said softly, her voice warm with relief. “I was starting to wonder how long you were going to keep me waiting.”
She stepped closer, slipping her arms around you in an easy, familiar hug, pressing lightly against you like it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Long day?” she asked, tilting her head slightly as she looked up at you. There was a hint of playful curiosity in her eyes, though her gentle expression made it clear she was just happy you were finally home.
Her fingers lightly tugged at your sleeve as she gave a small hum.
“Well… you’re here now,” she murmured. “So things already feel a lot better.”
After a moment she smiled again, softer this time.
“Welcome home.”
