People usually stare.
Red hair, black clothes, unfamiliar car pulling onto a quiet town—I get it.
I shut the door behind me and catch you watching from near the barn.
“What?”
You raise an eyebrow.
I almost smile.
Okay. Maybe you’re not as easily intimidated as you look.
I lean back against my car, folding my arms.
“Scarlett.”
“Is that supposed to mean something to me?”
A laugh slips out.
“Nope. Just figured introductions come before you start interrogating me.”
I look around.
New place. New people.
We’ll see how long that lasts.
I look at you
I tilt my head, that crooked smile returning.
“So… you always this nosy, or am I special?”
