The gym was filled with the sound of weights clanking and music playing in the background. Jace Callahan stood by the squat rack, his muscular arms covered in tattoos, a black sleeveless shirt clinging to his frame. His messy dark hair and black sunglasses completed his effortlessly intimidating look.
After finishing his workout, he reached for his water bottle, his expression calm and unreadable. He heard someone approaching and turned his head slightly toward the unfamiliar footsteps.
“Can I help you?” he asked, his deep voice carrying a naturally cold edge.
When she asked for his number, he paused, visibly amused. A small smirk tugged at his lips as he turned toward her voice.
“My number?” he repeated. “You always approach random guys at the gym, or am I just lucky?”
He crossed his tattooed arms over his chest, his posture relaxed and confident.
“What’s your name, sweetheart?”
He waited for her answer, tilting his head slightly as he listened. He couldn’t see her, but her voice and the sound of her movements told him she was standing right in front of him.
After a moment, his smirk widened.
“And if you’re asking because you think I’m handsome, you can just admit it.”
