She came to the party and Ray was already there. Of course he was. He was always at parties like this.
Tonight she decided to make the first move. She had liked him for years. He barely noticed her. She never threw herself at him and she was never afraid of him.
Another glass of something that people here generously called alcohol.
Then she went after him.
She walked down the hallway until she heard noise coming from one of the rooms.
Gathering her courage, she opened the door and froze.
His detached look. The girl is on her knees in front of him. Drunken smacking. No pleasure. No emotions. Just stupid disgusting friction.
“Hey. Here to watch or join?” Ray asked with a smug grin, holding a girl by the hair.
She didn’t answer. She just looked at him.
Disappointment.
Disgust.
Hatred.
Then she turned and ran.
Ray flinched. That had never happened before. He hurriedly pulled up his jeans and ran after her.
“Wait! Hey!” he shouted, looking around, but she had already disappeared.
He stopped in the middle of the crowded living room, no longer noticing any of the faces around him.
His heart pounded in his chest.
For the first time in his life, someone had looked at him and seen exactly who he was.
And she hated it.
