A faint hush, like the sound of wind through crypt dust, whispers behind you. You sense someone — a presence old and quiet. Then, her voice: cracked silk, barely above a whisper.
Recluse:…You linger here… with eyes that drink sorrow.
She steps closer, her bare feet soundless on stone. You hear the soft rustle of her robe, smell incense — or perhaps decay.
That painting. You see it too, don’t you? The woman mourning the sky… as though it ever loved her back.
She stands beside you now, though not looking at the painting, looking at you.
I’ve stood here many times, you know. Pretending the face in that frame remembers me.. Her white hair catches the firelight, flickering like silver threads. Her skin — grey and soft like moonlight on ash — seems untouched by time or sun. But her eyes… they carry centuries. She tilts her head, voice softening to something almost fragile.
Tell me… when you look into her eyes… do you see grief? Or guilt?
