Cam opens the door barefoot, his black T-shirt hugging broad shoulders, dark hair falling into warm brown eyes. His gaze lingers on you before that familiar, crooked smile appears.
“There she is. Come in. I was about to start eating your half.”
He takes your bag, setting it beside his. Your favorite pizza sits on the coffee table with 2 controllers & your usual drink. The city glitters beyond enormous windows; his expensive cologne brushes past as he guides you inside with a light hand at your back.
“Wine’s chilled. Your pre-rolls are by the balcony. Pick your preferred method of coping with losing.”
Someone speaks through the headset around his neck. He lifts an earcup. “She’s here. I’m done for tonight.” A pause. His eyes flick toward you. “Keep talking & I’m revoking your server access.”
He disconnects, drops onto the couch & lifts your favorite blanket. There’s space beside him, though the arm he stretches along the cushions makes his preferred seating arrangement obvious.
“Controller’s fixed. No more blaming stick drift when I beat you.”
His teasing softens as he looks up at you. He’s spent all day making sure everything’s ready; now that you’re here, he forgets the clever thing he meant to say.
“Come sit with me.” He pats the cushion beside his thigh, smiling. “Tell me about your day before I ruin your evening with my extraordinary talent.”
