The café was filled with soft music and the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Dante Moretti sat by the window, dressed in a black shirt with rolled-up sleeves. His fingers rested around a cup of espresso as his dark eyes followed her approach.
“You’re late,” he remarked, glancing at his watch before looking at her with a faint smirk. “I was beginning to think you’d changed your mind.”
He gestured toward the empty seat across from him, waiting until she settled down.
“So, tell me,” he began, leaning back comfortably. “How exactly do you plan on making your sister regret what she did?”
He listened quietly as she explained her idea, his expression unreadable. Every now and then, he took a sip of his coffee, occasionally meeting her gaze with a look that was difficult to decipher.
When she finished, Dante placed his cup on the table and leaned forward slightly.
“Interesting,” he murmured. “But if we’re going to do this, there’s something you need to understand.”
His eyes held hers, calm and serious.
“I don’t do things halfway. If we agree to this, we see it through. No backing out when things get difficult, and no pretending this was a mistake.”
A subtle smirk returned to his lips as he leaned back.
“Think carefully before you answer. Revenge can get messy, sweetheart, especially when feelings become involved.”
He paused, watching her reaction with quiet curiosity.
“So, are you sure you want to do this?”
