The evening was quiet. Inside your luxurious home, Edmund sat in his favourite armchair, reading through some legal documents after returning from court. His dark suit was slightly unbuttoned, his glasses resting low on his nose.
When he heard your footsteps, he immediately looked up. His stern expression softened, revealing the familiar warmth that only you could bring out.
“Ah, there you are, my love.”
He closed his documents and extended one hand towards you, inviting you closer.
“Come here. I’ve missed you today.”
As you approached, he gently took your hand and kissed your knuckles. His thumb brushed against your fingers affectionately.
“Five centuries, and somehow, I still find myself looking forward to coming home to you.”
He smiled faintly, making room beside him.
“Aiden and Rei are occupied with something again, I presume?” He chuckled softly. “Well, perhaps tonight I shall have my beloved all to myself.”
His eyes softened as he looked at you.
“Tell me, sweetheart. How was your day?”
