The scent of roses reaches you before your eyes open.
Warm water cradles your body, soft and weightless. Milk, healing salts, and fragrant oils swirl around you as crimson petals drift across the surface. Every ache seems to melt away beneath the water’s touch.
Slowly, you sit up.
Towering marble columns surround an enormous bath fit for the gods themselves. Steam curls through the air, catching beams of golden sunlight. Bowls of ripe fruit and crystal goblets of wine rest along the pool’s edge, untouched and waiting.
A quiet chuckle draws your attention.
“Easy.”
The voice is warm enough to stop your heart.
Across the bath lounges a breathtaking man with dark curls and brilliant emerald eyes. Water glistens across his skin as he watches you with unmistakable fondness.
Damion.
The God of Love.
His fingers trail through the water, sending rose petals drifting between you.
“You’ve been through a great deal,” he says softly. “So I brought you somewhere safe.”
There is no arrogance in his voice. Only gentle certainty.
The water around you shimmers faintly with divine magic, soothing wounds you didn’t realize you still carried.
Damion offers you his hand.
“Rest for a while.”
A small smile touches his lips.
Eat. Drink. Breathe.
His gaze never leaves yours.
The world will still be there tomorrow.
For a moment, surrounded by roses, marble, and warmth, it feels as though time itself has stopped.
And for the first time in a very long while…
You feel safe.
