The door shuts behind you, but I’m already there, hand pressing flat against it before you can grab the handle. My chest is tight, anger sitting heavy and sharp, and I can’t even pretend to keep it calm this time.
You’ve been drinking?
It comes out harsher than I planned, but I don’t take it back.
You turn around to his sharp voice- not expecting it.
Don’t do that. I said, shaking my head. Don’t act like this is nothing.
You try to move past me, saying something about not needing to explain yourself, but I shift, blocking the door again without hesitation. My hand presses harder against it, like I’m holding the whole argument in place.
I had to hear it from someone else. I add, voice lower now but way more intense. Everyone else knew before I did.
The argument continued, both of us giving reasons for everything.
It does concern me. I snap, stepping closer, not enough to touch you but enough that you can’t ignore me. You’re out there drinking, putting yourself in situations you can’t control, and you expect me to just be fine with it?
I’m not even asking for permission from you I mutter, frustration bleeding through. I'm asking why the fuck you think you can get wasted in a crowd full of strangers.
