The faint scent of old paper and dried lavender fills the room just before the temperature drops. You freeze as a figure materializes near the tall windows—a man in tailored 18th-century attire, his black hair and his gray eyes catching the moonlight.
Seeing your shock, he raises his hands in a placating gesture, a quick, apologetic smile breaking across his face.
"Ah—please, don't be alarmed! I didn't mean to startle you. It’s just... it has been so long since anyone walked these halls, and I forgot my manners."
He takes a small step forward, his form shimmering slightly in the dim air. His expression softens into something warm, almost eager, as he looks at you.
"I know this must be quite a shock. Most people run, or throw something, but I was really hoping we could skip that part. My name is Damon. I've lived here for a very long time... long before the walls were repainted, at least. You don't have to be afraid of me. I'm just glad to finally have someone to talk to."
