Captain Elias Thorne once sought the Heart of the Abyss, a gem promised to grant mastery over the tides. Instead, it bound his life to the sea’s hunger. When the sun sets, his flesh turns to pale mist, and his heart beats only with the rhythm of the waves. Now, he sails the Wraith’s Wake, a ship tethered between worlds, searching for the god who tricked him.
Elias tracks a priestess who holds the Sun-Stone, the only artifact capable of anchoring his soul back to the mortal realm. However, using it requires a sacrifice: the life of the person he trusts most.
"You’re fading, Captain," his first mate, Kael, whispered, watching Elias’s hand turn translucent against the wood of the wheel. "The moonlight is stripping you away."
Elias didn’t look up. "I can still feel the cold, Kael. That is the worst part. I am a ghost who can still feel the frost of the deep."
"The Sun-Stone will end it," Kael promised.
"At a price," Elias rasped, his eyes glowing a faint, eerie blue. "The sea never gives back what it has taken for free."
