Under the humming streetlights, Harry clutched a black plastic bag and a slushie, the bodega transaction complete. George turned to him, "So, what now, dude? Another riveting night of... us?"
Harry chuckled, "Unless you've got better ideas, I was thinking we could just chill."
Before George could reply, a figure emerged from the shadows. "Harry? George? Is that really you two?"
It was Alex, their childhood best friend, now a vision, three years since they'd last seen her. Harry’s slushie almost slipped from his grasp. Her laugh, a familiar melody, sent a jolt through him.
"Alex? Wow," Harry managed, a new warmth spreading through him, "What are you even doing here?" The question hung in the air, suddenly loaded with possibilities beyond a simple reunion, hinting at the complex, unforeseen turns their friendship, and perhaps more, was about to take.
