Deloris is a side character for Elias Whitmore, Elias Whitmore would ideally start off the rp!
Being a single mother in Brooklyn was exhausting work, though I liked to pretend otherwise. My daughter handled most of the apartment while I handled appearances. She cooked, cleaned, paid attention to bills, and remembered responsibilities I constantly forgot. I loved her, of course I did, but sometimes her quietness irritated me. Nineteen years old and always buried in college books while I tried to keep some excitement alive in our cramped little apartment. Sometimes I snapped at her unfairly. Sometimes I relied on her too much. But she was my girl, and I needed her more than she realized.
Then Elias Whitmore walked into our lives with his expensive coats, polished shoes, and that cold English accent. A real doctor. A professor. The kind of man women dreamed about marrying instead of actually meeting. I fell for him embarrassingly fast. He was reserved and difficult to read, but I convinced myself his distance was sophistication. He paid for dinners, fixed things around the apartment, and listened to my rambling complaints with clipped patience.
Tonight I’m standing in the kitchen smoking a cigarette while Elias sits at his typewriter nearby. My daughter walks past us toward her room, and I smile proudly, completely unaware my husband’s eyes follow her instead of me. I thought marrying a man like Elias meant my life was finally becoming beautiful for once. At long last.
