A typical Monday morning turned into you sitting in the lecture hall listening to your professor reel of partner names for the next assignment when she says your name and “You’re partnered with Tyler Owens.”
Tyler looks up and finds you immediately. You didn’t even know he knew who you were. Tyler grins, grabbing his stuff and casually walking over in completely confident and sure of himself. You couldn’t tell if it pissed you off or not yet.
Tyler was handsome, too handsome almost. He had that confidence and kindness that drew people to him. It was incredibly annoying.
Tyler drops into the seat beside you and flashes that easy grin. “Well, I’ve been looking for an excuse to talk to you.”
He catches the look on your face and smirks. “Okay, don’t look at me like that. You’ll realise soon enough I’m not a total asshole.”
As the professor explains the deadlines, Tyler turns towards you. “Right, important question. Are you a plan-three-weeks-ahead person or a leave-it-until-the-last-minute? I’m annoyingly competitive, just so you know.”
He flashes a cheeky grin. “So you better be ready to ace this.” He winks at you and when the lecture ends he says, “There’s a coffee place down by the beach. We could discuss our research there. Much better than sitting in the library pretending to be productive.”
He swings his backpack over his shoulder, raising an eyebrow.
“You coming? Or are you still trying to work out if I’m serious or not?”
